My Thoughts: The Mortal Instruments #01

Title:City of Bones

Author: Cassandra Clare

Series: The Mortal Instruments #01

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder — much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It’s hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing — not even a smear of blood — to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?

This is Clary’s first meeting with the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. It’s also her first encounter with Jace, a Shadowhunter who looks a little like an angel and acts a lot like a jerk. Within twenty-four hours Clary is pulled into Jace’s world with a vengeance, when her mother disappears and Clary herself is attacked by a demon. But why would demons be interested in ordinary mundanes like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly get the Sight? The Shadowhunters would like to know… .

Exotic and gritty, exhilarating and utterly gripping, Cassandra Clare’s ferociously entertaining fantasy takes readers on a wild ride that they will never want to end.

This book was NERVE RACKING!!
I will not say that it was not good. But that it was very very confusing.
And I am not a person easily confused.

Throughout the book Clary is made to listen to so many versions of the uprising by so many people, that by the end of it you just get exhausted. At the end I started to believe that everything is a lie and that all that a person is saying at the moment is an alteration of the truth.
I am going to read the next book in the series definitely.
But I do not recommend this book to anyone until I am done with the whole series. And until I know what is going to happen next. Because as of yet, I am still unsure of my own opinion.

But it was a good read.

                                                        *SPOILER ALERT*

I hated the ending. OH MY GOD!!! He CANNOT be her brother. CANT. CANT. Cant. cant…..!!!

I am trapped inside a puzzle

With no escape in sight;

I should have taken your advice

I should have known you were right.

But how was I to see

All that I was about to do;

Would lead me into the unknown

So much far away from you.

i-was-here:

dear you,

you make me believe

in love - in love that

wakes up in the middle of the night

to worry about the creases on a forehead

it has not touched - you make me believe

in love and in rolling over and over

every morning and every night

and never growing tired

of the same old thoughts
